One of Baghdad’s premier fine artists, Hashim Al-Samarrai captures Iraqi and Kurdish culture through his unparalleled sensitivity to emotion and detail. Born in 1969, Hashim graduated from the Institute of Fine Art in Baghdad, Iraq in 1991. He has been a lecturer at the University of Technology in Baghdad where he taught free-hand painting to architectural students.
Over the past 25 years, Hashim’s work has been featured in numerous festivals and exhibitions throughout the Middle East, including the Al-Wasity Exhibition (1990, 1993, 1995), the Babylon Festival (1993), the Red Cross Show (2000), the “UN to Baghdad” Exhibition (2002), human rights exhibitions (2007) and a handful of personal shows.
Hashim Al-Samarrai currently resides in Baghdad, Iraq with his family.
